JUDGING CRITERIA

The following criteria have been compiled to guide the judging / grading of project submissions through a Hackathon using tracks/themes only (instead of a specific problem statement). These criteria are designed to cater to Hackathons that also involve an audio/video pitch of the solution.

Each project will be graded on a scale of 1 to 10 for each section, using the descriptors and rubrics outlined. The final score will be calculated as a weighted percentage:

How new and innovative is the idea?

This section evaluates the extent to which the solution is new or previously unseen, providing new capabilities or uses that weren’t part of the ecosystem before.

GUIDING QUESTIONS

Does the team’s project align to the hackathon tracks?

How innovative is the solution? Does this exist cross-chain?

Has this idea been seen before in the IOTA ecosystem?

Does the solution extend or establish new capabilities for IOTA?

1-3
POINTS

Solution essentially copies an existing IOTA platform or ecosystem idea, or is a cross-chain migration. Solution does not align with the hackathon tracks.

4-7
POINTS

Solution delivers new capabilities into the IOTA ecosystem. It may be a cross-chain project and aligns with at least one hackathon track.

8-10
POINTS

Solution introduces a new, previously unseen idea, extending or creating new capabilities within the IOTA ecosystem. It aligns well with one or more hackathon tracks.
